Other stuff I worry about a bit

It's probably not worth worrying about, actually

Great customer service

It’s not often that you get great customer service. When it happens, it’s almost so surprising that it really stands out – and you feel compelled to shout about it from the rooftops. Or blog about it.

I’m also impressed with this company because of the technology – using RFID identity devices in cats to control access to a catflap seems like such an obvious thing to do, but no-one did it before they did and it’s already transforming our home life – seriously – as to be pestered by neighbourhood cats with varying levels of owner responsibility (no flea treatment, lack of regular mealtimes and the such-like) is actually pretty distressing – both for our own cats and for the family.

Pet Porte is a Guernsey based company that have patented this technology for this use and sell what has turned out to be an excellent product. Our initial experience of the product was not good – it didn’t read our cats’ chips at the distance at which they were trying to enter the door. The customer service from this company has been exemplary and outstanding – various suggestions and tips before sending a replacement model – and now, it works well and they have a happy customer.

It seems so obvious a thing to do – to provide the best possible service for the person who is giving you money to provide a service or product – but it seems to spectacularly fail in so many well-publicised cases. But, as it’s nearly Christmas, let’s remind ourselves of the times it can go so well – well done to John Lewis in High Wycombe. Merry Christmas.
